Merry Christmas!

Due to the busyness of the holiday season (and the fact that I will be out of town at my in-laws who don't have high-speed internet) I will be posting my POTDs at a later date and after the busy holiday has passed.

To make up for the delayed posts, I am running another gift certificate contest for one lucky commenter. Post a comment telling me about your favorite Christmas gift this year. I'll pick the winner when I return on Friday!
Merry Christmas to all :)

My favorite gift this year or this Christmas? The best thing I got this year was Addie of course! She is such a little blessing, and I can't wait for her to have her first Christmas this year, it will be so fun, and my camera is charged and ready!!!!

My favorite Christmas gift this year (so far) is an embroidery machine, I am so excited to put Addie's name on EVERYTHING!!! I still haven't used it yet to embroider (I don't have any embroidery thread!) but I can't wait!!! I have used it to sew though, and it is way better than my mom's dinosaur!

(Tanner looks adorable by the way!)

My favorite gift this year was a Swarovski necklace that my new husband got me for our first christmas together. He really put a lot of thought into what to get me, and he told me that when he saw this necklace all he could think about was my eyes shining like the stone in it. Awww! :) I also loved having the gift of my family and friends to share Christmas with this year as it is the first year in a long time that everyone was able to get together and enjoy the company!

My favorite gift that I received for Christmas this year was having my mother around and having the opportunity to spend the holiday with my family. After being told last year on Thanksgiving that mom had less than six months to live, we have spent this year truly counting our blessings that she is still with us. I have spent a lot of my trip up here just sitting with my mother, talking to her, or even not talking at all, just drinking coffee.

My favorite physical gift was a journal that my father kept all year long and gave to me. My dad is my best friend and to have the opportunity to read his thoughts was amazing.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and an even better New Year coming up!!

My favorite gift this year was the fundraiser donation my work gave to us. I have been on bedrest for three weeks and I had very limited time at work I would be getting paid for. Of course I did not plan to be taken off of work so early in my pregnancy so this was a total blessing for us.
We recieved a check from them that so unexpected but yet such a blessing. It takes a little stress off of me and our finances.
I truly believe that I work with some of the most thoughtful and caring people.

I can at least say one of our mortgage payments will be paid due to them. A huge hug and thanks to the City of East Grand Rapids.

My favorite gift this year wasn't wrapped but it was given to me by my grandfather. My grandparents are loaning my fiance and me their 1949 typewriter that still works great. But upon seeing how much I loved the thing, my grandpa said that we could have it. The look in his eyes when he saw what it meant to me was one of the best gifts, and I know I'll cherish the typewriter he used during his Army days forever.

Other gifts I've been blessed with are my amazing fiance, family, and friends. Merry Christmas everyone!

My favorite gift this year, besides my fabulous purple purse, wasn't a gift that I recieved but a gift I gave. I have learned lots over the past couple years taking pictures with you Amy and because of that, I was able to give Dan's dad a gift he truly enjoyed ... a gift of memories. As you know, the cabin is very special to Dan's dad since him and his father built it together ... right down to going out into in the field and gathering the field stone to piece together the big fireplace. During our visits to the cabin this year I took hundreds of pictures and put those pictures into an album. Of course I took the fabulous candid pictures that everyone claims to hate but loves the outcome but with that, I also took many detail shots, down to the grape vine that was taken out of Dan's grandparents garden after they passed away and replanted at the cabin. The look on Dan's dads face as he was going through the books was priceless and meant more than any gift I could have recieved. Recieving gifts is awesome, I always love getting fabulous gifts but this year, the gift/gifts that were given through photography and capturing memories were far better for me than those that I recieved ... even better than the really good tan! I just wanted to share too ... :-)

My favorite gift this year was seeing my children's faces light up Christmas morning when they saw the gifts under the tree from Santa. There is no gift in the world that could replace those two little smiles. Also being able to spend time with my family is a very important part of the holiday!!!

My favorit gift this year was spending time with my two best friends. We don't get to see eachother much because we are all so busy and one of them lives in Pittsburgh. I miss them both so much. It was the best gift ever to be able to spend an evening together!

My dad is a pretty straightforward, no-nonsense kind of guy who loves deeply but doesn't really show his emotions. He married an outgoing, emotional woman and fathered two similar daughters, and has always been content to live in our shadow, a constant supportive presence. He is also content to let my mother do the Christmas shopping. She likes practical gifts and always asks us what we need or want. So my sister and I usually have a general idea of the types of things we will receive during the holidays.

This year, however, there was a surprise tucked in among the Meijer gift cards and the sweater. My dad gave me a gift he had come up with all on his own, something so thoughtful I hardly knew what to say. He gave me a book, written by a notable journalist, on a subject I worked hard on last year. Not only that, but the book is signed by the author - a very personal note, encouraging me in my work. And my dad told me how he spent several minutes with the author, talking about me and my career aspirations, and how proud my dad was of me. My dad recounted the story and ducked his head a little, like he was embarrassed by the attention I was giving to the book, but he was beaming.

I think it was the closest I've ever come to crying on Christmas day. Some things just mean the world, you know?

My favorite gift this year is my new DVD camcorder. My son is just starting to crawl around and it is so awesome capturing it. I regretted not getting one while my daughter was younger, so I am so glad that my parents totally spoiled us this year. To me pictures & videos are priceless. I am looking forward to getting many awesome moments captured throughout the upcoming year.
